New Delhi, May 31: Finance Minister P Chidambaram took a break from his busy schedule on Tuesday night and ‘decoded’ the flourishing malls business in the country.
"The amount of spending people do in these malls is very astonishing," he told reporters highlighting the consumer demand that was largely driving the domestic growth.
He was talking to journalists on the higher growth figures clocked in 2005-06. But curious reporters wanted to know which mall he had visited. Pat came the reply: "I went to a mall which has a movie hall. I do not want to give the name because it would give free publicity to the mall."
He would not budge when it was enquired again whether the mall was in Delhi, Noida or Gurgaon.
It was later learnt that the Finance Minister had gone to watch the controversial film, The Da Vinci Code.
