Reliance Cement to set up facility in Himachal


Shimla, March 4 (IANS): Reliance Cement will set up a cement plant in Shimla district at an investment of Rs.3,400.72 crore. The Himachal Pradesh government Tuesday gave its nod to the project, a government spokesperson told IANS.

Reliance Cement Company Pvt Ltd proposes manufacturing cement and clinker.

The plant, with employment potential for 350 people, will be commissioned at Nerwa in Chopal tehsil, some 200 km from the state capital.

The spokesperson said the state-level single-window clearance and monitoring authority, at its meeting presided over by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, gave the approval.

Apart from Reliance, 11 other new proposals for setting up new industrial units and seven expansion and revised proposals of the existing units with combined proposed investment of over Rs.1,000 crore were approved.

The spokesperson said the expansion proposal of Rs.87.87 crore of Abbott Healthcare Pvt Ltd for manufacturing pharmaceutical formulations in its existing plant was also cleared.

L'Oreal International Ltd was also given approval in principle for setting up a facility in the state, he added.
