Srinagar, May 30: Yasmeena, the 15-year-old girl who was allegedly pushed into the sex racket in Jammu and Kashmir, has identified three of the 23 people including senior police officials paraded before her by the CBI, the High Court was informed on Monday.
The CBI informed a division bench comprising Justices Hakeem Imtiyaz Hussain and BA Kirmani that of the three persons identified by Yasmeena, two had been arrested while the third was not directly involved in the scandal.
CBI Deputy Inspector General of Police Pankaj Kumar Singh was asked by the bench about progress made in the case, upon which he informed the court about the Test Identification Parade (TIP) procedure involving Yasmeena.
The court was informed that the 23 people paraded before Yasmeena included an Additional Superintendent of Police and two Deputy Superintendents of Police.
It was also informed that every name given by Yasmeena had to be corroborated by the CBI as the teenager did not have complete knowledge about "her visitors" and it was Sabeena, the alleged kingpin of the racket, who used to identify the people for the girl.
CBI sources said though Yasmeena had named some bigwigs involved in the scandal, these had to be corroborated during a TIP. Five people, including Sabeena, were earlier arrested by the state police in connection with the sex racket, which sparked widespread protests across the Kashmir Valley this month.
