Alia Bhatt on 'Highway' of success

Mumbai, Feb 26: Although it isn't a part of the 100crore club yet, the movie 'Highway' starring Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda seems to have done quite well for itself at the box office. The movie over the weekend has made close to 14 crores in India and a global total of approximately 20 crores. With almost no songs, and almost no hyped entertainment like loud item songs and such, Director Imtiaz Ali seems to have still managed to bring a story to the audiences.

Director Mahesh Bhatt had praised the director as well as his own daughter Alia Bhatt's performance in the movie upon seeing it for the first time and it seems many more are singing from the same song sheet. Alia Bhatt it seems has managed to begin with carving a place for herself in this cut-throat industry and it remains to be seen how far this road less travelled takes her.

The movie revolves around a young girl, who gets kidnapped while out with her fiance and instead of feeling traumatised finds freedom in her captivity. The film resonates as an art film as it devoid of all the trimmings of modern commercial cinema. This aspect might have refrained many people from wanting to go watch the movie. The reviews though have been quiet good from all quarters as the movie was shown in around 800 screens nationwide.
