New Delhi, Feb 23 (IANS): In a bid to cut down power cost, Delhi Metro said Sunday it will soon install a rooftop solar power plant at the Dwarka Sector 21 station.
"The plant is expected to start production within six months. The power produced from this plant will be used to cater to the power requirements of Delhi Metro at this station," a statement said.
A Power Purchase Agreement was signed between DMRC and the developer, a multinational firm engaged in the installation and production of solar power worldwide, the statement said.
"DMRC will explore the possibility of installing more such plants at its stations, depots, parking lots as well as residential complexes."
With a production capacity of 500 kWp (kilowatt peak), the plant is touted to be the first rooftop plant with such capacity in the Delhi-NCR region.
