Udupi, Feb 20: In a gruesome incident, a youth allegedly murdered his father in a drunken stupor in the wee hours of Thursday February 20.

The deceased has identified as Narayana Naik (60). The incident was reported at Bidkalkatte which is on the border of Udupi and Kundapur.

It is learnt that Narayana Naik’s son Narasimha (26) came home heavily inebriated and picked a quarrel with his father. In a fit of rage, he grabbed a sickle and wooden stick and hit Narayana, injuring him fatally.

According to the sources the incident took place at around 3 am and Narayana Naik succumbed to injuries at around 4:30 am on Thursday. Narayana lay on the ground outside the house and other family members gave him water even as Narasimha watched. The son then went to sleep, it is said.

Narasimha is the second among Narayana's four sons and two daughters. An alcoholic, he would come home drunk every night and create a scene, sources said. He does coolie work to earn his living.

Earlier too, Narayana had filed a complaint in Kota police station about the misbehaviour of his son due to his alcohol addiction, sources said.

Narasimha surrendered himself before the police and was arrested. A case has been registered in Kota police station.

On the one hand the government gives its citizens rice at Rs. 1 per kilo and on the other hand murders them by addicting them to alcohol. Does any government have the guts to make the state liquor free and stop filling its coffers with the curse of thousands of ruined households like these.

If Mr. Narayana had indeed filed a complaint against his son at the Kota police station..... then what action was taken to protect the victim? Are these complaints really treated as seriously by the authorities or does it just gets filed and collects dust?????
