Mangalore, Feb 20: An inter parish cricket tournament was organized by Angelore Ground Friends in memory of late Jeevan Alvares and late Lancelot D’Souza (Vincy).
The finals were held recently in which 43 teams from various parishes participated. The team from Bajal parish bagged the first place and Angelore parish secured second place.
MLA J R Lobo, along with local corporators Asha D’Silva and Keshava Maroli were present. The parish priest of anjelore church Fr Mathew Vas, vice president of the parish pastoral council, Albert Lasrado, Lancy Monteiro, and Alwyn D’Silva were present for the closing ceremony. Many donors contributed financially to this tournament.
From the total amount collected, Rs 50,000 was donated to a former cricketer who is suffering from cancer while Rs 15,000 was given to Vincy’s family and Rs 15,000 was given to Karunakar who is bed-ridden due to illness.
