Mangalore, Feb 19: Following the grand success of BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's 'Bharata Gellisi' rally on Tuesday February 18, district BJP president Prathap Simha Nayak on Wednesday February 19 thanked the party workers, volunteers, media and the public in general for supporting the rally wholehartedly.
Addressing a press meet here, he said, "BJP district unit is grateful to the people of the city who supported this rally. If anyone faced any inconvenience because of the rally, the district unit seeks forgiveness."
Appreciating the flow of people to the rally, he said that two lac people willingly took part in the rally.
"There is a Modi wave in the entire district. A stream of people from across the eight Assembly constituencies of the district flowed in, much beyond our expectations. People took part in the programme with good discipline. It is clear that people want a Congress-free nation," he said.
Pratap Simha further said, "Gujarat officers had said that the venue for the rally would be insufficient, but there was no choice. People should bring this to the notice of the MCC and hope that a larger ground in the outskirts of the city would be provided in future."
Referring to Modi's statement on areca farmers of the district, Pratap Simha said that the BJP would include a resolution to provide a permanent solution to the victims of areca growers in its manifesto.
On the proposed Yettinahole project, he said, "D V Sadananda Gowda had said that the project should be initiated only after considering the views of the people of the district and suggestions of experts. Presently, the Congress government in the state has four ministers from the district and they should raise their voice."
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Devdas Shetty, Sathish Prabhu, Sanjay Prabhu, Diwakar Samani were present.
