Media Release

Bangalore, Feb 17: Kanara Entrepreneurs - KE - Bangalore, organized a talk on 'Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013' for its members. The programme was held at The Grand Magrath Hotel, Bangalore.

Robinson D’Souza, lead member and past president of KE Bangalore, spoke on this newly enacted legislation that seeks to prevent sexual harassment at the workplace.

The legislation gives protection to all women, regardless of their age or employment status, and more importantly, extends it to the customers, clients or domestic workers. It covers a wide range of offences, including implied or explicit promise or threat to a woman's employment prospects or creation of hostile work environment or humiliating treatment, which can affect her health or safety.

Robinson D'Souza said the the law applies even if there is only one woman worker. He shared a few examples of what could be construed as sexual harassment.

He also discussed as to how the redressal mechanism provided in the Act could be implemented. The Act also provides protection against false or malicious complaints and evidence.

He also mentioned that the significant monetary penalties are applicable in case of violation of duties of the employer, including even the cancellation of license / registration.

He concluded his presentation by reiterating the duty of the employer towards employees. He emphasized the need to maintain awareness and conduct regular training workshops to all employees.

The meeting started with a welcome address by president Mark D’Souza. George Timothy proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was ably compered by Adrian D'Souza.

Men are harassed more in the corporate world than women. Most of the sexual harassment cases registered by women are fake.

Many women try to get their manager into the pocket by 'special offers'. if it fails they take revenge by sexual harassment tool.

IT IS A WELCOME TALK ON SEXUAL HARRASMENT BUT WHY ONLY FOR WOMEN AT WORKPLACE, IT COULD BE VICE VERSA.
ONE MORE THING NO INNOCENT WHETHER IT IS MALE OR FEMALE SHOULD NOT BE PUNISHED BECAUSE THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF INSTANCES WHEREIN INNOCENTS ARE SUFFERED IN DOWRY HARASSMENT ISSUES.
SO PENDING ENQUIRY CLAUSE SHOULD BE REMOVED FOR THAT MATTER.
AN IN DEPTH ENQUIRY AND SEVERE PUNISHMENT THEREON CAN ONLY SOLVE THE PROBLEM.

Thank you KE for your good initiatives.
On the air view of a disaster site do not remedy the tragedy on the ground.
Encouragement to evils (alcohol, drugs, tobacco, competition, comparison, exhibition and entertainment) cannot eradicate devils (like inhuman behavior, harassment, rape, murder, suicides, enmity, poverty, unemployment, tensions and depressions).
Unless a grain perishes in mud, the multiple grains cannot be reaped.
Heroic and fancy dress does not multiply the population and create generations.
Spending funds in advertisement and publicity don’t satisfy the main purpose and primary objective to support the innovative ideas to have suitable solutions to severe problems.
Idle human hours run dangerous devil workshops for destruction (while trying to play the game of survival).

There are many ambitious working ladies who are willing to do anything to get promotions & perks. They think it's just ok to keep their managers happy. But the problem comes when these lusty bosses try their luck on other ladies who have committed to their moral beliefs, husbands & family. And these ladies suffer from lack of promotions & peace.
