Mangalore: 'Barke' Tulu movie hits screens across district

Mangalore, Feb 14: 'Barke' Tulu film, produced by Suresh Reddy under the banner of Sri Renuka Chitra was released in theatres across the district on Friday February 14. It is being screened in Central, Cinepolis, Suchitra and Big Cinemas in Mangalore and in various other theatres in DK.
The inaugural ceremony of 'Barke' was held at Suchitra theatre here on Friday. MCC commissioner Ajith Kumar Hegde inaugurated by lighting the lamp.
In his addres, he said, "Barke is one of the important places in Mangalore. Tulu language is popular everywhere and it is better than any other language. I learned Tulu by watching Tulu comedy dramas. It is a beautiful language.
"Day by day we get attached to artificial environment. Instead of learning to speak Tulu language, we spend our days speaking in other languages. Tulu movies depict the culture of Dakshina Kannada. I hope this movie crosses 100 days in theatres," he added, wishing all success to the movie.
Yajneshwar Barke, Jagannath Shetty, lead actor Nagaraj, lead actress Meghana, Balachandra, director Bharath Krishna, cinematographer Mutturaj and others were present.
The movie has been directed by Bharath Krishna, who has also written the story, screenplay and dialogues. Nearly 70% of the movie has been shot in Barke and other places like Mannagudda, Sultan Battery, Ullal beach, Hampankatta, Urva Marigudi, Boloor, Gandhinagar and Ladyhill.
