Mangalore: Now on, single site approval to be provided at MCC

Mangalore, Feb 14: People who want to own ‘single site’ house need not frequent the office of Mangalore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) for approval, as the procedure now stands simplified. As per new norms, Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) commissioner has been delegated with the authority to accord approval for plans of ‘single site houses’.
This was announced by A B Ibrahim, deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, who is also at present administrator of MCC, in a press meet here on Thursday February 13.
"People belonging to low and medium income groups were facing lot of hardships in getting approvals and licenses for residences on smaller sites. This problem was being faced since the last four to five years, but it has now been addressed in the form of a revised order. The city council had passed a resolution towards this end, and proposal for amendment of rules was sent to MUDA for approval. The MUDA in turn, sent it to the government. For people’s convenience the government agreed to relax the rules, and sent back the proposal to MUDA, duly mentioning that that MCC commissioner can give the approval for ‘single site’ house in 10 cent land," the DC said.
MCC can also approve the plan and issue the licenses. For ‘single site’ approval it requires 12 days and 30 days for license, totally out of 42 days, the concerned will get both at ‘single window’, he explained. He added that the new scheme has come into being with immediate effect, and asked people to avail of the benefits of the revised scheme.
He approval of the plan will be granted after remittance of fee under KTPC Act, and that the procedures being followed by MUDA for approvals will also be implemented in MCC too. Henceforth, people building houses in sites measuring up to ten cents can file a single application for approval of plan and house licenses, he added.
The administrator also stated that MCC is making preparations for upcoming budget of 2014-15 hence MCC is inviting suggestions from different associations, organizations, and the citizens on February 14 at around 4 pm. On February 17 at around 11:30 am there will be a meeting with representatives regarding the budget for this year.
The deputy commissioner will be available in MCC every Tuesday from 9 am to 11 am, and on Thursdays, between 3 and 5:30 pm.
