Mysore: Follow the leader? Hardcore fan of Ramdas commits suicide

Mysore, Feb 13: A hardcore fan of former minister S A Ramdas, consternated at the suicide attempt of his idol, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his home.
The deceased, identified Navinkumar (25), was a resident of Vidyaranyapuram Extension in the city.
It is learnt that immediately after the news about the former minister's suicide attempt spread, Navinkumar had told his friends his decision to kill himself.
Sources said that on Wednesday morning, when no one was at home, he hanged himself from a ceiling fan. Although he was rushed to JSS Hospital after the family members returned, he could not be revived.
A case was registered in Vidyaranyapuram police station.
It is gathered that Navin, who always volunteered to work in programmes linked with the minister, had also got the name of Ramdas tattooed on his chest and hand.
Meanwhile, former minister S A Ramdas, who had tried to end his life by hanging himself at his home after a woman named Premakumari, resident of Kanakadasa Extention in the city, heaped allegations against him, is recovering. He continues to be in the intensive care unit of Apollo Hospital, where a team led by Dr Harish Nayak and Dr Sanjay are keeping a close watch on his health condition.
Kuvempunagar police have registered a case of attempt to suicide against the former minister. City police commissioner Dr M A Salim said that investigation will be undertaken once his health condition improves.
