Kundapur, Feb 13: Former chief minister of Karnataka B S Yeddyurappa on Wednesday 12 addressed the valedictory function of the programme, ‘BJPya Nadige Janara Balige' (BJP's walk towards masses) organized at Vandse here.
"In my opinion, chances of implementing the budgetary proposals mentioned in the interim railway budget presented by minister Kharge are almost nil, as enforcement of election code of conduct is round the corner,” he said.
He further said that he will fight the coming Lok Sabha election under the leadership of Narendra Modi from Shimoga constituency, and requested the people to extend their wholehearted support. He clarified that his son, B Y Raghavendra, who represents this constituency at present, will shoulder organizational work.
Claiming that the UPA-led central government has lost popular support, he asked the people to throw away the Congress government at the centre and elect over 20 Lok Sabha members from Karnataka.
MP B Y Raghavendra, former MLAs Laxminarayan, Hartalu Halappa and Lalaji R Mendon, zilla panchayat vice president Mamata R Shetty, former district BJP president Udayakumar Shetty, and several BJP leaders were present.
District BJP president, Tingale Vikramarjun Hegde, delivered introductory address. Block president of the party, B M Sukumar Shetty, welcomed.
During his visit to the taluk, Yeddyurappa also visited the houses of senior party leader and former chairman of 13th Finance Commission, A G Kodgi, and rebel BJP leader and independent MLA, Halady Srinivas Shetty. He clarified later that he did not discuss politics during these visits.
Responding to questions about the statement issued by founder president of Karnataka Janata Party (KJP), Prasannakumar, Yeddyurappa said that merger of BJP and KJP is a closed chapter. About the decision of KJP to field strong candidates against him and Shobha Karandlaje, he said he does not deem it necessary to react to such childish remarks. He however, asserted that he is not bothered about the candidates being fielded against him by any party or individuals.
