Mangalore, Feb 12: The officers of customs at Mangalore International Airport on Wednesday February 12 seized three ten tola gold bars and three gold strips, totally weighing 466.600 grams and valued at Rs 14.20 lac from a passenger.

The gold was seized from a passenger identified as Aboobacker Siddique Kottakkani, a resident of Kottakkani, Madhur in Kasaragod.

The gold bars and strips were concealed in a coffee mug, an LED emergency light, an LED lamp and an LED switch light, all placed inside a carton.

Aboobacker Siddique arrived at Mangalore International Airport at around 6.30 hours by Air India Express flight IX 820 from Bahrain.

Further investigation is under progress.

    I was one of the passengers of same flight yesterday and was first one to complete the immigration check and the last one to receive my luggage.but I never saw anyone being caught.Is this news true?

    My thinking is like film AYAN (smuggling drugs in Tamil movie), smugglers passing many kilos of gold fearlessly in other side, diverting customs officer's attention small amount of gold (acting like trapped with custom officers)

    Look like there is a big mafia in this racket targeting particularly Kasargod Passenger. Even in Mumbai Airport Two passengers of Kasargod were caught with huge amount of Gold.
