Mumbai, Feb 11: Suresh H Shetty, minister of health of Maharastra had held a women’s conference at his Andheri constituency which was set in motion by Maharastra chief minister Prathviraj Chauhan on Thursday evening, February 6.

Addressing the gathering at Holy Family High School grounds in Chakala at Andheri east, the chief minister said that youthful minister Suresh Shetty is holding the portfolio of parliamentary affairs besides health and has changed the face of health ministry of the government under his able leadership.  The government has increased its credibility due to his popularity.

The government has not budged to criticism and has answered it with its people friendly programs.  The government is the first of its kind to have implemented a special policy of uniformity.  All are equal here regardless of religion, caste, and region and the fact that all are Indians is important.  He requested support for the government which is taking severe action against those who are trying to create a divide and hoped that the people may support the Congress government during the forthcoming elections.

“The contribution of the chief minister to the development of Maharastra is praiseworthy.  He has inspired revolution in various spheres in the state and has been instrumental in the welfare of the state.  He has provided better shelter for the people who were living in huts in the year 2000.  He said that his government does not proclaim the achievements of the government like in other states apparently pointing at Namo brigade.  He said that the department was in ICU prior to his taking the charge.  Mobile blood tests, lacs of free surgeries, 2000 ambulances with modern facilities, infirmatory, distribution of free food and such other services are the achievements of the government and the ministry has secured national and international accolades for it”, the health minister said.

Minister Suresh Shetty said that the Veerashaiva cooperative bank has closed due to malpractices and out of 20,000 depositors in it, those with deposits of less than one lac will be repaid their deposits on Wednesday, 12 and a meeting in this regard is held under his leadership, he said.
Congress leader Murji Patel, Rajesh Sharma, Kamalesh Rai, Rahi Sageel, minister’s wife Santhoshi Suresh Shetty and others were on the dais.  Chief minister Prathviraj Chauhan falicitated minister Suresh Shetty who has rendered long service in the cabinet.  The activists garlanded the chief minister and Suresh Shetty with a large garland.  Ministers conveyed their best wishes to women activists, presented them with awards and called upon them to work towards women’s empowerment on the eve of Yello Vermilion programme.

Fr Charles Fernandes of Pallotthi Church Marol, businessman Mudradi Diwakaer Shetty, Congress activists Naresh Shetty, Sanjay Guptha, Sujatha Shetty, Rakesh Shetty, Vipul Rodrigues, Vijay Shetty, Roopali Tai, Rajkumar Yadav, Bala Jadav, Jyothi Birje, Shanker Poojary, child actor Pramesh Parab and others were present.

Patriotic songs, cultural programs of different states, and dances of Maharastra were presented during the event.  Prakash Musule compered the programme and proposed vote of thanks.
