Mangalore, Feb 9: The Guardian Angel Parish, Anjelore celebrated the Parish Day titled as ‘A Community Day’on Sunday February 9.
The parishioners thanked and praised the Lord at the Eucharistic celebration which began at 7:30 am. Fr Ronald Serrao professor of Jeppu Seminary was the main celebrant. Fr Mathew Vas, parish priest and Fr Deepak D’Sa, assistant concelebrated the Holy Mass.
A cultural programme was staged in the evening at 5:00 pm, with Fr Mathew Vas the president and MLA J R Lobo as the chief guest. On behalf of the parish J R Lobo was honoured with a shawl and flowers by Fr Mathew. He also awarded prizes to the winners in various competitions held in honour of ‘The Community Day’.
In his address Lobo requested the gathering to guide the youth to find their identity in any Government posts He said that he was proud to be a Mangalorean with mother tongue is Konkani. In his presidential speech Fr Mathew also affirmed what J R Lobo expressed.
Vice - president of the Pastoral Council Albert Lasrado welcomed the gathering. The secretary Juliana Mascarenhas placed before the gathering, the report of the activities and the plans of the projects in the parish. Lancy Monteiro the convener of the youth and Cultural Committee proposed the vote of thanks.
The parishioners participated in the ward wise ‘Vadya Sambram’. The children and the adults irrespective of their age mingled together and brought out their various talents and creativity. The audience was entertained with a colourful cultural programme. The day ended with a sumptuous meal prepared by the parishioners. Robin Vas was the M C of the programme.
The day marked unity and the co-operation of the Parishioners for a common purpose.
