Kerala filmmaker's'Sthalam' bags CMS Vatavaran award


Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 6 (IANS): Kerala-based filmmaker Shivaprasad's "Sthalam" bagged the best feature film award at the 7th CMS Vatavaran International Environment and Wildlife Film Festival held in the capital.

"Sthalam" is based on the life of environmentalist Pokkudan, whose name is synonymous with mangroves in the state. Over the years he has planted one lakh mangrove trees in different parts of the state and across the country.

The film focuses on what happens to the families when mangrove forests are acquired for industrialisation.

So far Shivaprasad has made 86 short films and documentaries and has won both national and state awards. He is a regular at international festivals.
