Mumbai, Feb 5: The five day programme held with the participation of Guru Narayana Yakshagana Mandali, Sri Pejavar Mutt, Nanvimumbai Kannada Sangha Vashi, Sri Ambika Devastana Vidyavihar and B S K B Association, Sion, held by Padaveedhara Yakshagana Committee Regd under the aegis of Kannada and cultural association of Bangalore in Mumbai as part of their fortieth anniversary concluded on Sunday January, 26.
Founder of Narayanamrutha Foundation, advocate N R Rao had presided over the concluding programme held at BSKB Association at Sion’s Gokula and M L Samaga, Polya Umesh Shetty, Nedde Rama Bhat and Dr Ramananda Banari had arrived as guests.
N R Rao in his presidential address remembered the departed Yakshagana artistes and organizers and praised the work of H B L Rao to preserve the Yakshagana culture. The part of Yakshagana to preserve our culture is noteworthy. The art can be preserved only by the unity of artistes and art lovers. When we look at the past, we find that the part played by Yakshagana organizers is prominent, he said.
In the programme of commemorating the artistes of the century and Talamaddale programme, H B L Rao spoke about senior Yakshagana Bhagawatha Polya Dejappa Shetty, Madhusoodan Rao spoke about Yakshagana scholar Rama Nayak, Dr Ramananda Banari spoke on senior Yakshagana artiste Malpe Shanker Narayana Samaga, Satyananda Rao Pejavar spoke about Nadde Narasimha Bhat and Moodubailu Gopalakrishna Shastri spoke about Kirikkadu Master Vishnu Bhat.
Dayamani Shetty welcomed and compered the programme. As part of programme senior artistes Sheni Shama Rao, Dr Ramananda Banari, Satyananda Rao Pejawar, Ashok Bhat Ujire and Nedde Rama Bhat presented ‘Angada Sandana’ a ‘Talamaddale’ with the participation of Jayaprakash Niddannaya and Jayalaxmi Devadiga.
S K Sunder welcomed. Senior arts organizers, Padaveedhara Yakshagana committee president H B L Rao gave a key note address; Advocate Amisha Bhagwat compered the programme.
