Mumbai, Feb 5 (MD): Alleged illegal arms dealer Manish Nagori (24) and aide Vikas Khandelwal (22), arrested in connection with the murder of Dr Narendra Dabholkar (in pic), were remanded in magisterial custody by Judicial Magistrate (First Class) AB Shaikh yesterday and will now be sent to Thane jail.
Associate public prosecutor Madhav Poul argued for judicial custody of the accused, adding that the prosecution has made three applications for conducting a narco-analysis test on the duo, their identification parade, and gaining possession of the firearms. These applications will be heard tomorrow.
Dabholkar was shot by two unidentified men on August 20, 2013 at the Omkareshwar Bridge in Narayan Peth.
The firearm, the prosecution claims, was seized from Khandelwal by Mumbra police, when he was arrested in Thane the same day Dabholkar was murdered in Pune. Cops have claimed that as per ballistic reports, the weapon seized from Khandelwal and bullets recovered from Dabholkar’s body correspond.
They also asserted that Khandelwal had procured the pistol from Nagori.
