Kasargod: Police nab four in Balige Aziz murder case

Kasargod, Feb 4: Kumble police led by circle inspector Sibi Thomas on Tuesday February 4 arrested four persons in connection to the murder of Balige Aziz.
Balige Aziz (38), a resident of Paivalike in Kasargod district, was murdered by a group of miscreants on the night of January 25 on Paivalike - Chevar road.
The arrested are identified as Ammi (30) alias Hameed, resident of Paivalike Ambikana, Shafi (23), a resident of Kalai, Mohammed Rafeeq (23) resident of Salethur, Taleki and Shafi alias Chotu Shafi (23), a resident of Paivalike.
Kumble police arrested the accused at Annekal while they was travelling in a car this evening, sources said.
Police also seized an iron rod and three machetes which were reportedly used for the murder. The weapons were seized from a private property in Paivalike, it is learnt.
Police also recovered the clothes worn by the accused while committing the murder.
As many as 18 persons have been booked in this case, including those who abetted the murder by financing or other indirect means.
Aziz was one of the accused in the Abdul Jabbar murder case of 2009. Jabbar, secretary of Perla unit of Youth Congress was murdered on the night of November 3, 2009, and after investigations and court trial, seven persons were convicted in the case. Aziz, who was initially accused of supplying money to Jabbar's assailants, later became agreed to testify as a witness and was released.
