Mangalore, Feb 3: Though KJP merged with BJP and its chief Yeddyurappa along with his other KJP members officially re-entered the parent party last month, the district minority unit of KJP on Monday February 3 clarified that not everyone wanted to merge with the BJP.
Addressing a press meet here, Hameed Kudroli, district president of KJP minority wing said, "Former chief minister Yeddyurappa has said that all the office-bearers and leaders of the KJP party have joined the BJP, but that is not true. Any member of the KJP who has been secular in thinking has not joined the BJP."
He further explained, "Looking at the good work undertaken by Yeddyurappa when he was the CM and the secular views expressed by him during those days, we joined the KJP. But Yeddyurappa, for boosting the political career of his son Raghavendra and Shobha Karandlaje, decided to join the BJP.
"But Yeddyurappa did not take suggestions of the district committee before making this move. Being secular in our thinking, some of us leaders and members will never join or get identified with the BJP which has a communal ideology. We will discuss among ourselves and our decision will be made known at the earliest,” he said.
KJP leaders Ibrahim Kailaar, Mohammed Ali, and Elyaas Nandavar were present.
