Bangalore: 'Vollet' wins KE Biz Plan Contest, grand finale for Entreprenet 2014

Bangalore, Feb 2: Team ''Vollet" led by Pune-based youngsters Sachin Singh, Zain Siddiqui and Vijender Yadav won the first-ever Emerging Business Plan Contest organized by KE Global as part of its two-day biennial global convention 'Entreprenet 2014’ hosted by its Bangalore and Mumbai chapters Kanara Entrepreneurs and Dimensions for the first time in Bangalore.
The Entreprenet 2014, which had full participation by nearly 400 successful and budding entrepreneurs, business leaders, corporate executives and professionals interacting and networking with stalwarts in different fields at the luxurious Hotel Park Plaza, with stalwarts in diverse fields expounding and sharing their thoughts, ideas, vision and experiences, drew to a successful close on Saturday.
Another team ''Floasters" from SIES College Navi Mumbai led by Paritosh Mangal, Varun Jain and Faisal Shaikh emerged the runners-up of the Emerging Biz Plan Contest, in which over 250 teams from Mumbai, Bangalore and Mangalore took part with the organizers sending invites and drawing over 4,500 responses.
The winning team, Vollet, comprising a smartphone application in web platform essentially based on privilege loyalty programme designed to benefit both the customers and retailers and of course the Vollet team, bagged the first prize of a Rs 1 lakh cheque and the opportunity for investment upto Rs 1 crore, while the runner-up team, Floasters, which is essentially a new invention combining flavor, toaster with features like induction cooktop and music-radio players won a cheque for Rs 60,000.
Both the teams, which progressed till the finals from the preliminaries, won the hearts of the audience with their zeal, enterprising qualities and innovative skills. Even the three eminent judges – Anil Francis Rego, Managing Director of Right Horizons, Vivek Menonca of Lawrence and Mayo, and Ivan Fernandes, Chairman KE Global and past president of TIE, Dubai – appreciated the efforts, preparations and presentation skills as well as the innovative ideas that were showcased at the finals as well as in the earlier rounds.
Vollet as well as Floasters are devices essentially targeted at the urban, yuppie and upwardly mobile crowdd of yonger generations, students, bachelors and working housewives, for whom using newer gadgets or smart-phones has become essential. Whether the ideas and concepts presented by the two teams and even other teams, which had to bow out in the intense competition, would stand the test of time and click in the market place and perhaps prosper will be known in the future. But KE Global and Entreprenet 2014 with their first-of-its-kind Business Plan Contest certainly provided a platform to the young business, marketing and management students to put into action their ideas and concepts.
Ivan Fernandes and Adrian D’Souza, Director Finance and Coordinator, Emerging Business Plan contest, indicated that KE was considering a popular demand from the large number of delegates that the contest must be made an annual feature so as to help the younger generation to think of becoming entrepreneurs and employers rather than concentrating their energies and talents to work for some other organization as employees.
Adrian D’Souza summarized the two-day proceedings and refreshed the memories of all the delegates by his narration of apt summaries and highlights.
