Mangalore, Jan 30 (DHNS): The Lokayukta sleuths raided the house of food and civil Supplies department depot manager M V Rajan Nambiar and Bantwal taluk office First Division Assistant Omprakash Hegde, simultaneously in Mangalore and Uppinangady, on the charges of amassing wealth disproportionate to their known source of income, on Wednesday.

The Lokayukta police said Nambiar was owning a one-floor house at Yeyyadi. The house was fully furnished. About 600 grams of gold was found in the house. He had Rs six lakh in his account. Rs 90,000 was in the house. He owns three cars.

Rajan’s wife is a teacher in Kendriya Vidyalaya and is serving for the last seven years. Rajan was in government service for the last 28 years.

The wealth found in the house is said to be 200 per cent more than the source of their income.

“Rajan has two children— daughter is a medical student and son is an engineering student. Both have not gained admission to colleges under government quota, which will also be considered. The assessment of wealth is not complete,” said the Lokayukta police.

“We have not arrested Rajan. We have sought explanation on the wealth and property owners by him. If he fails to prove, measures will be taken to seize the property,” the police said.

Meanwhile, the sleuths also raided the house of First Division Assistant Omprakash Hegde, at Uppinangady.

He has 1,317 gram gold jewellery and Rs 10 lakh in his account. He also owns a few sites and vehicles. About 602 gram gold jewellery was found at home, and 715 gram gold jewellery was in the locker.

Hegde owns a house worth Rs 20 lakh at Uppinangady, an incomplete house worth Rs 8 lakh at Lakshminagara, two sites, two cars and two bikes, said Lokayukta DySP Vittaldas Pai.

Mangalore, Jan 29: Lokayukta police on Wednesday January 29 raided the residence of M V Rajan Nambiar, godown manager of food and civil supplies department for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The Lokayukta officials are verifying his property documents and assets at his residence in Kopalkad, Yeyyadi.

Lokayukta DySP Umesh and Lokayukta inspector Mohan Kottari led the raid operation.

The raid began early morning.

More details are awaited.

Excellent job by LOKYUKTHA- THE LOOTERS -THE CHEATERS -THE THIEF'S.
Time for janath to catch them -confiscate all their wealth amassed illegally back to the treasury-all liquid money -cash-property-gold- other valuables -Jewellery etc.
This is the duty of the janatha -the public-blow the whistle a shard as possible.
it is same catching the thief in white collars no less.
1/ Their images with money collected should go on Internet- face book-media.
2/ money should be accounted and should go back to the main stream of economy and no where else.
3/ Property in wife's name or children -or other family members should be nullified.

After that, what ?
Step 2. These caught officials manage the show and get out. no one is in jail. no one's assets attached.

Step 3. Back to bigger hauls in the government departments by same officials.

Step 4. We all read and feel happy to see the unearthing of illegal money and assets. but then a big cover is put on it and the matter closed. One official who is roaming free and enjoying his ill gotten wealth.

There was raid on the BBMP Officials too a few days earlier. Somehow nothing was published of that raid.
If a real raid is done on all top to bottom officials, all that deficit amount presently stated as over 3000 crores will be unearthed from these BJP officials.
Every corrupt official who is involved from every party should be
caught and their ill-gotten wealth taken away from them.
At least now when AAP is making waves, learn a lesson and try to catch the greedy, corrupt officials to save your own parties going to the dogs.

We have so many eminent personalities in govt. departments with good academic records, our Karnataka state is NO.1 in ITBT, we have lots of electronic equipment but still we can not include a process itself to prevent bribe in government offices. Publicity only during seizure of this kind of wealth. There is no information to the public the whereabouts of such wealth. How they are punished and what about the seized wealth? A detailed report containing the amount of seizure, how it was accounted and what punishment was given should be published every month in the newspapers.

I totally agree with Sundar Karithota, Haleangadi. In 2011, there was an income tax raid in our district and other places. According to news, more than 150 sleuths raided 34 premises of a prestigious group in Bangalore, Manipal, Udupi and Mysore. After that what happened, nobody knows.

Raids are a good sign of un-earthing ill gotten wealth. We appreciate the Lokayukta for their work.
The Thousand Million Dollar question is " What action does the Govt take, on these erring officials after these raids? Why doesn't the Lokayukta take appropriate action against these corrupt and greedy Govt Babus??" !!!! Suspend them or even harsher punishment should be given to them so that other officials will be apprehensive before taking bribes to amass illegal wealth.
Lokayukta Officials must confiscate this kind of wealth, high end cars & anything that is found illegal immediately and take stern action. Why doesnt this happen is my question?
Now, dear citizens of Mangalore,do we all realise why Ration shops have no ration for poor people, coz the same is diverted to godowns owned illegally by these officials & sold at higher rates & thus make money.!!
God Save us from these corrupt officials.

Why Lokayuta ively raiding !! Only one day at DC's and sub registrar's office is enough to get all the big fish. Deccan Herald gave a good article on the bribes taken for even the smallest work.
And Lokayuta should remember that all of us are behind them. We are all AAP to benefit the nation against bribes and corruption.

Just calculate how many total people are working in different depts. of the Govt. just in this city where corruption is rampant, and if just 50% of these big fishes are exposed and the unaccounted wealth and properties seized how much the rates of flats, properties, and demand for gold and costly materialistic stuff will go down and how much of a relief it will bring to the common peasants of this city who are struggling day and night to make most basic ends meet!! I think the parallel economy running on money acquired through such means is much bigger than the real white economy!!! Immediately the prices of properties and labors etc. will come down drastically bringing much needed parity and justice to the much deserving general populace of this great country!!

To earn 8000 rupees/month a peasant has to work an entire month and seeing these guys palatial houses, it appears they might be earning it in a day if not in hours!!! Jai Ho!!!

When the society respects only rich, irrespective of acquiring wealth through illegal and immoral means, corruption cannot be curbed. First of all nothing happens to the corrupt and secondly, there will be another 10 to replace them. It is a well known fact that in Muncipality, Police, Revenue, IT, Transport, civil supplies, forest,courts, practically everywhere there are corrupt people. Even in Lokayuktha there are corrupt, so how corruption can be curbed? To counter corruption there must be some moral assessment within society. When the society shuns corrupt, it starts a evolution of its own.

Officials bid with their higher-ups to get a posting to our twin districts as they know that the land of the so called intellectuals also harbors plenty of people who are ready to grease their palms to get their otherwise legitimate work done. There was a news report in the morning that these raids were conducted simultaneously in many small cities in Karnataka and many officials were trapped with huge amounts of cash, jewelry, property etc. Even clerks are found to have amassed huge amounts of wealth and properties and high end cars!!

This is the easiest money, which comes into the system and drives the costs of labor, properties, items of daily use to exorbitant heights that the aam aadmi finds it difficult to have two square meals a day, forget other necessities!! All these hyped property rates, etc. will come down drastically if the majority of these babus are taken to task and the unaccounted wealth bought back to the system for the welfare of the common man!!

Imagine who is buying so many flats and properties, high end cars in a small city like Mangluru with hardly any job or business opportunities and small population, it is clear it is the black money which is laundered out to convert to white!! What a pity!! Jai Ho!!

People of Mangalore should come forward and register complaints with competent authorities against any individual, whether he be in the private sector or the public sector. There are people who have got illegal businesses and black money who are driving the prices of housing and labour in the market to unrealistic levels. These people need to go behind bars and many social evils will get cured automatically.

Nothing will happen to M V Rajan Nambiar. A couple of months back one surveyor from Byndoor was caught red handed by lokayukta for accepting bribe. After one month the same guy was reinstated. What a shame of Democracy! We Indians are killing our Democracy not the Terrorists.
