Mangalore: Family, friends, colleagues bid final adieu to Babitha Karkera

Mangalore, Jan 29: 32-year-old Babitha Karkera, who died in a tragic road accident near Um-al-Nar on Dubai - Abu Dhabi road on January 21, was cremated her hometown in Mulky on Tuesday January 28 amid family, friends and a large number of well-wishers.
The mortal remains were brought by flight to Mangalore via Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon. The body was shifted to another coffin at Suratkal and taken to Kolachi Kambla in Bappanadu, Mulky where the last rites were conducted.
Babitha was a senior manager at Apple company.
Relatives, friends, well-wishers and locals gathered at the residence and paid their final respects to the deceased. As the body was completely charred, it was not taken out from the coffin. The body was then taken to Mulky Hindu crematorium and the funeral rites were conducted. The rituals were performed by Babitha's husband Rohit Karkera.
Officials and colleagues from Apple company in UAE where she worked were also present. Among them were American Ben King, regional director of Apple in UAE, senior official Franklin of British nationality, area manager Khushbo from Delhi and others.
Ben King who earlier spoke at Babitha's residence recalled Babitha as a person with a beautiful heart, who was creative and hardworking. "She had climbed the ladder of success in her career through hard work and dedication. May god grant her family the strength to bear the irrepairable loss. May her soul rest in peace," he said.
Students and staff from her college and school were also present to bid their final adieu to Babitha.
