Mangalore, Jan 28: "BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will visit Mangalore on February 18 and address a rally at Nehru Maidan at 3 pm. Today the district BJP will discuss and plan his visit," said BJP MLC Bhanuprakash.
Addressing a press meet on Tuesday January 28 at the district BJP office here, he said, "Congress is underestimating Modi by saying that a tea seller cannot win elections. Even a tea seller can become the Prime Minister, anyone can become the PM."
Replying to a question on BJP's plans for Yeddyurappa who recently rejoined the party, he said, "If Yeddyurappa stands for elections it is a good news for everyone. The party wishes him to stand for elections as he is sure to win. If we all work together we can bring about changes in society."
He also said that by February 5 or 6 the BJP will announce the list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections.
On BJP's preparations for the polls, he said, "Since January 15 we have been visiting every person in every nook and corner and distributing three pamphlets, detailing the scams and weakness of Congress, BJP's vision and success, and Narendra Modi's vision."
He further said, "Booth level agents (BLAs) who are assigned to each election booth should also vote with others. BLAs must examine the voters' list, address, booth numbers etc before the elections. BLAs should not be government staff. Their names should be mentioned in the voters' list at their respected booths. For each and every booth there will be booth level officer (BLO). Nursery school teachers, city corporation officers and others are assigned for this work," he added.
Member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel highlighting the failures of Congress, said, "In Dakshina Kannada from last three to four months we have see the failure of the police department. Many incidents took place but the police did not respond appropriately in any of the cases. This is all happenning because of Congress rule. When BJP was in power, there was not even a single problem but now we can see that Congress is creating lots of problems.
"Congress is using police force only for political gains. Around 2 - 3 incidents have occured at Kulai but police are not at all bothered."
President of Dakshina Kannada district unit of BJP Pratap Simha Nayak, BJP district unit general secretary Sanjeev Matandoor, BJP state vice president Sulochana Bhat, Divakar Samani, Satish Prabhu were present.
