Kasargod: Four workers dead as lorry plunges into gorge

Kasargod, Jan 28: Four persons were killed when a borewell lorry fell into a gorge, after the driver lost control of the vehicle on Sunday January 26 night.
The accident occurred at Chittakar near Kanhangad. Four workers from north India died in the accident and nine were injured.
The deceased are identified as Chhattisgarh natives Ramlal (19), Shambhu (20), Vaishak (20) and Rangaraju (19).
The injured Bhaktaram, Bhoothsingh, lorry driver Palaniswamy of Tamil Nadu, Stalin, Tapamani, Sambram, Sooraj and others have been admitted to Pariyaram Medical College Hospital. Three of them are said to be seriously injured.
The lorry was on its way from Cherupuzha to Malom for digging a borewell. When the lorry reached a slope at Alathadi, the driver is said to have lost control of the vehicle and it rolled down to about 150 feet into a roadside gorge.
The locals and the fire brigade personnel helped in the rescue operations.
