Mumbai, May 18: City-based Catholic Secular Forum (CSF) on Wednesday filed a petition in the Bombay High Court seeking action against Censor Board chief Sharmila Tagore for clearing the controversial Hollywood film The Da Vinci Code.
The petition also sought a ban on the movie.
Joseph Dias, general secretary CSF, had earlier lodged a criminal complaint against Tagore and Sony Picture's top official in India, Uday Singh, under Section 295 of IPC (outraging religious feelings by insulting religion or religious beliefs) at Vakola police station.
Now, the petition has sought the High Court direction to the police to take action against Tagore, CSF's lawyer Pradip Havnur told PTI.
"It will come up for hearing tomorrow (Thurday, May 18)," he said.
The petition claimed that the movie is "blasphemous and offends Christ and the Church he founded".
"It hurts religious feelings of Christians across the world," it claimed.
