Sadananda Gowda promises Rs 10 lac for Kannada Bhavan in Kasargod

Kasargod, Jan 25: Former Karnataka chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda on Saturday January 25 promised an amount of Rs ten lac from his MLC fund for the proposed construction of Kannada Bhavan in Kasargod.
He was speaking after setting in motion the sixth Kerala state Kannada conference, Kerala-Karnataka festival, hundredth birth anniversary of Kayyara Kinyanna Rai and literary festival held under the aegis of Coastal Cultural Foundation and the department of Kannada and culture under Karnataka government.
The former chief minister said that he will draw the attention of the government to various Kannada rural development projects at the meeting of the legislative council. “Kannada should coexist along with other languages and with Malayalam in particular as the two states share a close bond,” he said.
He laid the foundation stone for Kannada village and vegetation cabin. D H Shankaramurthy, chairman of Karnataka Legislative council, inaugurated the Kerala-Karnataka festival. Kannada Chalavali Vatal party president Vatal Nagaraj presided over the conference.
Deputy director of Mysore Rangayana S I Bhavikatti, author Dr Manubaligar, former president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat Harikrishna Punarooru, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Mallikarjuna Swamy, Madhava Master, Sandhya V Shetty, S Kumar, Bhuvana Prasad Hegde, Durga Prasad Rai, Kolar Satischandra Bhandary, Chandrakanth Guruppa Bellada, S L Bharadwaj and others were present.
Shivarama Kasargod, president of Karavali cultural foundation welcomed the gathering. Jagadish Kudlu conducted the programme.
