Mumbai, Jan 24 (IANS): TV actors like Deepika Singh and Gautam Rode have fond childhood memories of Republic Day of looking up in the sky for the thrilling flypast or watching the parade on TV.
Here are some actors of Star Plus' shows, reminiscing about the day:
Deepika Singh (Sandhya of "Diya Aur Baati Hum"): I have some very fond memories of Republic Day celebrations as a child. We would run to our terrace to watch the helicopters with tri-colour balloons as soon as we got a hint that the parade is over.
Gautam Rode (Saras of "Saraswatichandra"): January 26 marks a very important day in the history of our country. As a child I remember it being a public holiday and sitting with family and watching the parade live. It’s very important for today’s generation to understand the reason for celebrating this day.
Disha Parmar (Pankhuri of "Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara"): I want to wish every Indian a very Happy Republic Day. I want to urge the youngsters to actually take some time off to know more about this day and what the day meant for our country and for those who put in all the efforts.
Mohammed Nazim (Ahem of "Saath Nibhana Saathiya"): 'United we stand, divided we fall' is a quote every Indian needs to pay attention to. Every citizen should enjoy the given freedom but at the same time be cautious about your rights and responsibilities. Do not misuse them in any way and feel proud to be an Indian.

Amrita Prakash cast in cross-border love story
Amrita Prakash, who featured in several films and TV shows as a child, will now be seen as a girl who falls in love with a Pakistani boy in the upcoming episode of "Yeh Hai Aashiqui". She says shooting the "cross-border" love story was "fun".
“Shooting for 'Yeh Hai Aashiqui' was a lot of fun," Amrita, who featured as a child actress in movies like "Tum Bin" and "Vivaah", said in a statement.
An episodic series, "Yeh Hai Aashiqui", which features unusual tales of love, airs on Bindass.
The upcoming episode will showcase a story about Tabassum, an Indian girl who falls in love with Shadab, a boy from Pakistan.
Their love story begins in the course of their attempting to reunite their grandmothers who were best friends but had lost touch after India and Pakistan became separate nations.
Talking about the show, Amrita said: "It's a very beautiful show with interesting love stories and a different concept unlike other episodic shows on Indian television which are either crime or horror-based.
"I decided to do 'Yeh Hai Aashiqui' because it was a cross-border love story with a unique theme."
Actor Yasir Shah will be seen as her love interest Shadab on the show.
To be hosted by actor Rithvik Dhanjani, the episode will be aired on Republic Day.

Gauahar, Kushal to romance on 'Tum hi ho'
"Bigg Boss Saath-7" lovers Gauahar Khan and Kushal Tandon will get cosy for the small screen by featuring in a dance performance on the romantic number "Tum hi ho" for a special show.
Their performance on the "Aashiqui 2" song will be showcased as part of "Mirchi Top 20", a TV programme by Radio Mirchi which will be aired on Colors Saturday. The show will feature top 20 songs of 2013 and each song will feature a performance by Hindi television’s celebrities.
The show, to be hosted by comedians Bharti and Manish Paul, will also see superstar Salman Khan dancing to some songs of his latest release "Jai Ho". Other performers include names like Sana Saeed, Jay Bhanushali-Mahii Vij, Shaleen Bhanot, Rashmi Desai, Krushna Abhishek, Ajaz Khan and Sanjeeda Sheikh.
