Mangalore: Woman's murder in hotel - Accused arrested, produced in court

Mangalore, Jan 24: The police have arrested a person from Kannur, Kerala in connection with the recent murder of a woman in a hotel at K S Rao Road.
Koorachundu Ravindran, a resident of Kuttikol in Taliparamba of Kannur district, was produced in court on Thursday January 23.
Alikutty (70), wife of Thomas from Alakode in Kannur was found murdered at a hotel located at K S Rao Road on the morning of January 17.
Sources said that Bunder police, who left for Kerala soon after the murder came to light, detained the accused for questioning on January 21 at Kannur and later arrested him.
He was brought to Mangalore on Wednesday Januaary 22.
It is learnt that police have also recovered the Alikutty's jewellery from Ravindran.
Alikutty had come to the hotel with a man on January 14 and booked a room. On January 17, her body was found in the room in a partially decomposed state and the man she came with had disappeared.
Under the direction of city police commissioner, the investigation was guided by DCP (law and order) Jagadish K V, and led by ACP K Tilak Chandra. Bunder police inspector Cheluvaraju B, SI K K Ramakrishna, ASI Yogesh, ASI Harishchandra, personnel Janardhan, Balakrishna, Chittaranjan, Sudhakar, Mani, Isaaq and Sunil were part of the arrest operation.
