Mumbai, Jan 23: “Goregaon Karnataka Sangha is a model association. It is heartening to read the programmes of the sangha in daily newspapers. It gives a pleasant surprise to see the departments of Rangastala and Grantayana conduct so many programmes this year. Though I am a singer, I too feel like participating in your Kavyasiri and Swarasangama programmes. These programmes are necessary for exposure of talent”, said Rajkumar Karnad, bank official and singer.
Karnad was speaking as a chief guest after the inauguration of Nudinamana, a unique programme held by Rangastala-Granthayana departments of Goregaon Karnataka Sangha. Ramakrishna Prabhu, retired chief engineer of ACC corporate company lighted the lamp and set the programme in motion.
I B Patel Muncipal Kannada school headmaster Vinayaka Biradar congratulated the members of the sangh and said that “you have arranged for demonstration of the students talent in dramatics after training them in it. The children are also participating in Vijnana Vihara Geetha programme. The efforts of Rangastala – Grantayana activists are rewarded. The efforts of our teachers Ananda Shinde and Maruthi Rathod are included in it. This is a satisfactory experiment to build Kannada with children as the base. Our school will always respond to such experiments”, he said.
“The programme has attempted to combine three generations. The efforts of Grantayana director Petri Vishwanath Shetty and Rangastala director Shakuntala Prabhu are praiseworthy. The contributions by the working committee, women’s unit and youth wing should also be acknowledged”, he said.
“The women of the sangh have participated in Yakshagana talamaddale under the guidance of Sumangala Shetty. Vasudha Nayaka has become Bheeshma, Suma Nayak has acted as Parashurama and Geetha Nayak as Gange”, said Ravi R Anchan, president of the programme.
“Famous drama actor and director Subraya Bhat has written children’s drama and directed it. It is a matter of goodwill that he has come from Bangalore to direct the drama. The multi lingual poetry and Kannada lyrics have increased the significance of the programme. The leadership of Seema Kulkarni is important in it”, said Anchan.
Shakuntala Prabhu welcomed. Smitha Patkar, Laxmi Anchan, Hema Ameen and Rama Nayak encouraged the programme participants. Granthayana convener Aparna Rao proposed vote of thanks.
