Mumbai, Jan 22: The birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated by Karnataka Sangha, Kalynan as part of nationwide celebrations.
The celebrations were held at the office of Kalyan’s Bail Bazar Jokar Plaza on Sunday, January 19. Pravin Deshmukh, convener of Swami Vivekananda organization’s Dombivli unit was the chief guest.
The chief guest and other dignitaries put a garland around the picture of Swami Vivekananda and Deshmukh led a prayer based on Swami.
T S Upadyaya, president of the Sangh referred to the famous speech made by the Swami at all religions conference in Chicago and spoke recollecting how the Swami addressed the audience as brothers and sisters being able to impress on the audience that Hindu religion is one of the important religions in the world. He also read Sanskrit poems to explain the life of Swami Vivekananda.
Vice president Gopala Hegde explained how the noble men in the world got influenced by the achievements of Swami. Sridhar Kulkari said in his speech how the Swami got influenced by Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and got attracted towards the almighty.
Dr U D Mallya praised the Swamy saying that he is the unique and special person born after Sri Shankeracharya. He emphasized on their contributions towards religion and said that we need a person like him for maintaining the principles of religion.
Sangh’s members Ramana Shetty Renjala, Srimathi Vasanth Chandrashekara, Sundanda Shetty and Srimathi Jayanti Poojary presenting poems and Bhajans on Swami.
Pravin Deshmukh in the presidential address gave details on the achievements of Swami and details of programmes held by the Sangha in his name. He thanked the Sangha for holding the birth anniversary of the holy man. Honarary secretary of the Sangh Subraya Hegde conducted the programme and proposed vote of thanks.
