Kasargod: Food poisoning - Over 70 school children fall ill

Kasargod, Jan 21: More than seventy students of Periya Jawahar Navodaya School fell ill due to food poisoning. The affected students were admitted to Kanhangad district hospital and are recovering.
The students fell sick reportedly after they consumed rice gruel and vegetables on Sunday January 19.
Children had vomited and developed other symptoms of illness and were admitted to the hospital. None of them have developed serious complications and are recovering, as per hospital sources.
The officials have taken samples of the food consumed by children in order to test them. The officials also sealed the kitchen of the school where the food had been prepared. It is said that as there was water shortage on Sunday, the water was brought from outside. Health officials have also taken samples of the water, it is learnt.
Commissioner P S Mohammed Sageer, DySP P Thamban and others have visited the place and conducted investigations.
