Mangalore: Thousands walk to Kateel Temple as part of 'Ammanadege Namma Nade'

Mangalore, Jan 20: Nearly 10,000 people joined the ‘Ammanadege Namma Nade’, a walk that was organized by Kateel Padeyatre Samithi, from Maravoor to Kateel.
Thousands of people irrespective of age participated enthusiastically in the walk that was flagged off around 2.30 pm from the Durgaparameshwari Temple in Maravoor to Kateel Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple. The walk was accompanied with prayers, ‘bhajans’, and devotion in oneself to seek blessing from Goddess Durga.
Speaking to Daijiworld, Sandeep Shetty Maravoor, president of the committee, said, “Along with my friends, I used to walk to Kateel Temple once in a while for nearly two years. As walking to the temple is one of the most important services that one can render to God, we wanted to unite many people and make them walk to the temple. As a result, a committee was formed and this event was organized wherein nearly 10,000 people participated to seek blessings from the Goddess.”
Not just individuals, a number of dignitaries and political leaders irrespective of party, businessmen, and others participated in this walk. The colourful procession included tableaux, ‘chende’ and bhajans.
