New Delhi, Jan 15 (IANS): Bengali cinema superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee's "Jaatishwar" was screened in the capital Wednesday and he says that the language won't be a barrier for moviegoers.

To be released by Reliance Entertainment, the Srijit Mukerji directed film would hit theatres in Mumbai, Guwahati, Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai Friday.

There will be sub-titles for non-Bengalis and Prosenjit believes the subject is such that it will get a good response.

"The movie deals with an international subject,” said the 51-year-old at the screening of the film here.

“It's about a Portugal man, who wants to marry a widow and his journey of learning Bengali language. And I don't think language is a barrier. We are ready for Chinese films, so why not Bengali?" added the star of films like “Chokher Bali”, “Dosar”, “Moner Manush” and “Autograph”.

In the 1990s, he tried his luck in Hindi films with "Aandhiyan" and "Meet Mere Mann Ke” but they turned out to be damp squibs.

Recently he featured in Dibakar Banerjee's "Shanghai" which won him the Stardust Award for best supporting actor.

"I was away from Hindi cinema because I didn't want to do it. It took me three to four months to say yes to 'Shanghai'. I wasn't sure why Dibakar wanted me. Later, I understood that I was required in the film," said Prosenjit.

He will also be seen in Hindi films like "Traffic" and "Bandook Baaj".

"I was also supposed to play villain in 'Madras Cafe' but that didn't work out. Shoojit Sircar (filmmaker) is working on a script for me," said the actor.
