Kundapur: Anti-Naxal Force constable shoots himself to death

Kundapur, Jan 14: In a tragic incident, a constable of Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) in Amasebail here allegedly shot himself to death late night on Monday January 13.
The deceased has been identified as Albert D'Souza (38), son of Adam D'Souza from Puttur. He was unmarried.
He was in ANF for the past eight year and was posted in ANF camp at Amasebail for the last three years, sources said.
At around 11.30 pm on Monday, he reportedly shot himself with a self-loading rifle. By 3 am, the body was brought to Wenlock hospital in Mangalore.
He was known to be a hardworking and good natured man. On the night of the incident, he seemed normal, and had even called home to speak to his family, sources said.
He had joined duty on January 12 after vacation. He was to get engaged on January 24 to a girl from Madikeri who is working as a nurse in Bangalore, sources said.
Though exact reason for taking the extreme step is not yet known, sources said that there was some misunderstanding with his fiancée-to-be with whom he had reportedly spoken over the phone on Monday night.
Amasebail police have registered a case. The post-mortem was done in Wenlock hospital.
