Sullia: Accident at Subramanya claims lives of two students

Sullia, Jan 11: Two college students were killed when a tempo traveller carrying Ayyappa devotees rammed into their bike at Kulkunda near Kukke Subramanya here on Saturday January 11.

The deceased have been identified as Raghavendra (21), a resident of Mardhala near Kadaba, and Deekshith (21), a resident of Panja here.

Both were final year degree students of Kukke Shree Subramanya College here.

Raghavendra and Deekshith were riding towards Subramanya from Kadaba, when a tempo traveller carrying Ayyappa devotees from Subramanya to Dharmasthala rammed into them.

The impact of the collision was such that both the youngsters got thrown on to the road and sustained critical injuries. They were rushed to Kadaba hospital where they breathed their last.

Subramanya police have registered a case.

    We are aspiring to reach Mars, but in certain things our system is still in the stone age, when people have a callous attitude towards the victims which is caused by present rules, which prohibits from assisting the injured and causes a lot of unnecessary inconvenience to the good Samaritans. I hope this is one of those eye openers whereby there could be a change in the rules, which will allow the injured to be assisted by the general public at least to admit the injured to the nearby hospital and also all hospitals and clinics should be allowed to treat and perform the necessary procedure to save the life.

    Driving or Riding is an art and so none of them are perfect.Narrow escape in some accidents is LUCK but luck doesn't work at all times.Very pity to hear the loss of two precious lives in this small age.

    Many of the two wheel drivers Zig zag their way as they drive ,many still have removed the Two rear view mirrors,they talk on the cell, sandwiching the Mobile between the Jaw n neck..careless attitude n showing off seems to be the order of the da, driving without lights is a common sight..Police should nab n fine these drivers.They not only endanger their own lives but also those of the Pedestrians and other road users....by the way, I own a two wheeler myself...

    The negligence and rash driving is the main causes for the increase of accidents nowadays.Very unfortunate to note the demise of two youngsters of final year degree students lost their prime life in the accidents.May their departed soul be in eternal peace and also provide strength to their parents.Thanq.

    indeed a sad tragedy. I wonder, why these dealers, in the name of marketing, give such capable machines at discounted rates to these gullible students/youngsters.
    I strongly feel, every institutions / schools, should bring in the awareness in their students about the seriousness of such accidents by regular workshops, short films, counselling sessions and more importantly interaction with the victims of such accidents.
    a fear for their life and aftermaths of such accidents are a must for our new generation else, we will be losing lot of precious life in search of thrill and fun.
