BJP leader shot by unidentified assailants in Virajpet
Virajpet/ Mysore, Jan 10 (DHNS): Suja Kushalappa, brother of Virajpet MLA Appachchu Ranjan and BJP’s Kodagu district unit president, was shot at and injured by a four-member gang near the Sub Registrar’s office in Virajpet on Thursday evening.
He was admitted to Columbia Asia hospital in Mysore, where he was operated upon for injuries on the back of his neck.
Kushalappa was walking along with his associates when the unidentified assailants fired from a pistol and fled, said eye-witnesses.
Suja, who reportedly received three bullets on the back of his neck, was initially operated on at a hospital in Virajpet. One bullet was removed.
He was later brought to Mysore, where he underwent another surgery by a team of doctors led by Dr Anil Sangli. BJP leaders, including S A Ramdas, visited Suja in hospital.
The incident was strongly condemned by the district BJP unit whose leaders called for bandh on Friday.
