Mumbai, May 9: Pravin Mahajan, charged with murdering his elder brother and senior BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, might move a superior court seeking his psychiatric examination.
Stating this here on Monday, his counsel Nandkumar aRajurkar told UNI he has so far not yet received a clear instruction from his client, but he could move either the Sessions Court or the Bombay High Court for seeking psychiatric examination after a lower court had repeatedly turned down his appeal for psychiatric tests.
Pravin was examined by a team of doctors in the government-run J J Hospital and special public prosecutor Shrikant Bhatt had informed the court that Pravin is mentally sound.
However, the defence had been contesting the police claim from the day Pravin had surrendered to the Worli police after allegedly committing the crime on April 22.
Pravin, after remaining in police custody for 11 days, is presently in judicial custody till May 17 and is now lodged in the Arthur Road jail.
