Mangalore, Jan 6: “Minister Abhayachandra Jain who did not assault kidnappers of women, terrorists and cattle thieves has attempted to assault a poor auto driver who was protesting for repair of a road. This is the limit of high handedness,” said BJP leader Jagadish Adhikari.
He was speaking at a BJP protest meeting held at Mulky bus stand on Saturday January 4.
Former president of Tulu academy Umanath Kotian said, “We find more criticism than appreciation in society. The minister should not be disheartened with criticism and should not be proud with praises. The minister attempted to assault a person who requested to set right a road which was not repaired for the last fifteen years. This is destructive approach,” he said.
Mulky BJP president Sucharitha Shetty, Bhuvabhirama Udupa and Ishwara Kateel were present. Mulky town BJP secretary Navin Raj welcomed. Umesh Manampady compered.
A banner with writings against Minister Abhayachandra Jain was hung at the place of the protest. Mulky police spoke to BJP leaders and got the banner removed before it could give rise to commotion.
