Two from Gangolli killed in accident at Bhatkal

Bhatkal/Kundapur, Jan 2: A day after four persons of a family from Gangolli were killed in an accident near Channarayapatna, two more persons from the same place were killed in a head-on collision between a bike and a tipper lorry near Belke National Highway 66 in Bhatkal.
The accident occurred at around 4:30 pm on Thursday January 2.
The deceased were identified as Raghavendra (35), son of Srinivas Dasaiah, and Subramanya (25), son of the late Rama. Both were residents of Bavikatte near Gangolli port.
They were heading towards Gangolli from Gokarna when a lorry approaching from the opposite direction rammed into them.
Sources said that the bodies lay on the road for nearly half an hour before they were taken to Bhatkal government hospital for post-mortem with the help of the locals.
Both Raghavendra and Subramanya were bachelors, and were working at Gangolli port. On Thursday, on account of holiday, they had been to Bhatkal to take part in a puja at a temple in Sodigadde, sources said.
A case has been registered in Bhatkal police station.
