Mangalore: 25 couples enter wedlock at SSF silver jubilee event

Mangalore, Jan 2: The Sunni Students' Federation (SSF) of Karnataka on Thursday January 2 celebrated its silver jubilee meaningfully by organizing a mass marriage for 25 couples from financially poor families. The programmed was held at Nehru Maidan here.
Religious heads, community leaders and representatives from various parts of the state took part in the event.
Delivering the inaugural address, Kanthapuram A P Aboobacker Musliyar, general secretary, All-India Sunni Jamiyyatul Ulema, said, "We must fight unitedly to eradicate the major social evil of dowry, from this society. There are many women who are unable to marry simply because they cannot afford to give dowry."
He further added, "Today, marriage has been become a means of business and commercialization. The number of people gathered at this historic event organized by SSF may be less for various reasons, but the message they have conveyed to the society through this programme is of great value and will surely reach many people."
"It is truly a blessing to be able to support and encourage marriage and education of the financially backward class of the community," he said.
The silver jubilee souvenir of SSF was released on the occasion by Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi, chairman of Yenepoya Group. The Nikah was performed on the dais in the presence of the family members of the bride and groom, accompanied by religious heads.
Haji C M Ibrahim, Kunhi Ahmed Haji, S M R Rasheed Haji, Usman Haji, R P Hussain Master, Haji M Ibrahim Bawa, Azeez Haji, B M Farook Fiza, Haji U S Hamza, Rahim Uchil, A A Hyder Parthipady and many others were present on the dais.
