Mumbai, May 5: Well-known musician, creator of hundreds of music cassettes and co-founder of Sangeetha Abhinay Academy, Dr Fr Charles Vas along with other nine people, was awarded the ‘Alankar’ award in the Versova Welfare School auditorium at Andheri (W) here recently.
The Alankar Shiromani Institute which gives away this annual award has in this year bestowed the same on Fr Charles Vas, who originally hails from Meramajal, Farangipet in Dakshina Kannada district.
Mukesh Sharma, director, Doordarshan, Mumbai, was the chief guest at this awards presentation ceremony.
Present on the occasion were musician Anand G Shah, Ravindra Jain, S N Saxena, cine actor K Chandrashekar, customs commissioner Indrajeet Das Gupta, story writer Jagmohan Kapoor, Atul Patak, ghazal singer Mithali Singh, Prakash Mehta, MLA, corporator Arun Dev, Surendra Dube, R V Singh, former deputy mayor Rajesh Sharma and other dignitaries.
