Mangalore: Dubai-bound passenger caught with Rs 10 lac at Airport

Mangalore, Dec 30: The officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence on Saturday December 28 late night arrested a passenger at Mangalore International Airport for trying to smuggle Rs 10 lac in cash to Dubai.
The arrested passenger has been identified as Abdul Rashid (40) from Bhatkal.
The passengers to Dubai were ready to board the late night Air India Express flight on Saturday when the officials of DRI received information about the smuggling attempt. The officials swung to action, and on checking, they found the money on Abdul Rashid.
He was immediately arrested and the money seized by the DRI. The currency notes were in denominations of Rs 1000 and Rs 500.
The purpose of smuggling the cash and for whom it was meant would be clear only after investigation, said the officials.
