Mangalore: A B Ibrahim takes charge as deputy commissioner

Mangalore, Dec 26: A B Ibrahim on Thursday December 26 took charge as the new deputy commissioner (DC) of Dakshina Kannada district.
He was given a floral welcome by Dayanand K, additional DC, Ajith Kumar Hegde, MCC commisioner, Dr Prashanth, assistant commissioner, Mohan Rao, tahsildar and others.
Addressing the media after the official signing in, Ibrahim said, "I had served as the commissioner of MCC several years ago. Regarding various long-term issues faced by the people of this region, a discussion will be held with the district incharge minister, people's representatives and officials and steps will be taken to resolve the issues within a specific time frame."
He added, "I have been given a position of high responsibility, and I will strive hard to do my duty sincerely and live up to expectations. With regard to development, measures will be taken depending upon the gravity of the issues.
"Plans will be chalked out under the directions of the district incharge minister and people's representatives," he added.
Adoor B Ibrahim was appointed to the post of DC following the transfer of N Prakash to Bangalore.
Born in Adoor village of Kasargod district, he rendered service as tahsildar at Kodogu for two years from 1986 to 1988. He then got selected in civil services exam conducted by the UPSC and was posted as deputy collector in Goa between 1988-1990.
After joining KAS in 1990, Ibrahim was posted as a probationary officer at Karwar and since then has served in various capacities in Hassan, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Mysore, Dharwad, Gulbarga, Bangalore and other districts. He has also served as MD of KEONICS and Mysore Lamps Ltd, Bangalore, CEO of Karnataka Wakf Board, Bangalore. Between 1996 and 2000, he was promoted as special deputy commissioner and posted as commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation. Before being appointed to his new post, he was the managing director of the Chamundeshwari Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) Ltd, Mysore.
