Mangalore: Dharmendra Amin of Lakumi troupe dies of cardiac arrest on stage

Mangalore, Dec 24: B M Dharmendra Amin (40), a veteran Tulu theatre artiste and part of Lakumi drama troupe, passed away due to cardiac arrest while perfoming on stage in Chiragoli at Uppala, Kasargod in the wee hours of Tuesday December 23.
Dharmendra was performing in Tulu drama 'Ellya Vishaya Mallamanpochi' during a midnight show, when, during scene 4, he complained of sudden chest pain and collapsed. He was rushed to hospital by his colleagues but breathed his last on the way.
B M Dharmendra was conferred with the title ''Nata Bhyrava'' for his immense contribution to Tulu theatre.
He is survived by his mother, wife, and one-year-old child and other family members.
Bangra Manjeshwara Dharmendra Amin began his theatre career through Manjeshwar Sharada Trust Tulu theatre. He was best known for his comic roles.
Dharmendra Amin made an indelible mark in many dramas performed throughout the district and outside. He was noted for his voice quality and short stature which attracted a number of fans to his dramas. He also bagged many awards for his acting skills. His presence also boosted Kishor D Shetty's Lakumi Troupe. He grabbed the attention of the audience in Tulu film ‘Berse’. He served the theatre for more than a decade. He was popularly known as Dharmanna among his well-wishers and friends. He also acted in many serials and in the film 'Ekka Saka' which is yet to be released.
