Mangalore: Police seize vehicles used in kidnap, blackmail of students

Mangalore, Dec 24: The police on Monday December 23 seized the cars and the bikes used by the eight accused who allegedly kidnapped a male and a female college students, forced them to indulge in sex acts and videographed them for blackmail.
The accused have said that one car belongs to Shameer, one of the accused, and the other to a doctor named Ahmed. It is said that the accused had fled to Kerala in the cars after unsuccessful attempt to blackmail the students. The doctor’s car was left at Manjeshwar and the police have seized it from there.

The accused are Shamsuddin (23) of Suratkal, Shameer (21) of Deralakatte, Iqbal (23) of Deralakatte, Rauf (22) of Deralakatte, Nawaz (28) of Mudipu, Nisar (18) of Manjanady, Harshad (28) of Deralakatte, and Sharfan Hussain (21) of Deralakatte
Sharfan is the first accused in the case. He had come in Shameer’s car, taken the remaining six of them and prepared the plan for the blackmail, as per sources.
Shameer had fled to Suratkal via B C Road in his car after using it for the crime. Police have seized his car in Suratkal. They have also seized bikes used in Katipalla and Mangalore.
Police have inspected Ira village of Bantwal taluk and Kerala border area where the crime is said to have taken place.
The college students were kidnapped by the group on last Wednesday and blackmailed for ransom after the group allegedly forced them to have sex and recordered the act. The female student was released by the kidnappers to get the ransom. The student then lodged a police complaint through a lawyer but the kidnappers had escaped on getting information of the police raid. They were however arrested later.
Some organizations are preparing to protest against the blackmailing incident.
