Mumbai, Dec 17 (IANS): Singer-actor Meiyang Chang, who is Chinese and grew up in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, feels he is offered only a few film projects due to his different looks.
Last seen on the celluloid in the 2010 release "Badmaash Company", Meiyang, a former "Indian Idol" contestant, is hopeful something interesting would come his way.
"One major disadvantage and advantage has been my look. Sometimes I become the first choice for a particular character, and at the same time no script is written in particular for a Chinese or northeastern person," Meiyang said here in an interview.
"But I think the world is opening up, the films are opening up and something interesting will happen," he added.
Meiyang came into the limelight with the third season of singing reality show "Indian Idol", where he made it to the top five. He has also hosted shows like "Indian Idol" and "India's Got Talent".
Currently, Meiyang has one film in his kitty, but he is tightlipped about it.
"There is something coming up on the acting front but I cannot divulge the details right now," he said.
