London, Dec 13 (IANS): English rock band The Beatles will be honoured with the Recording Academy's Lifetime Achievement Award early next year.
The legendary British band will receive the award at a special ceremony that will be held Jan 25, a night before the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, reports aceshowbiz.com.
"It is a great privilege to recognise such an exceptional group of honourees and celebrate their accomplishments and contributions to the recording industry," Neil Portnow, president and CEO of the Recording Academy, said in a statement.
"This astoundingly unique and gifted group have created some of the most distinguished and influential work in our musical history. Their legacies are timeless and legendary, and their creativity will continue to influence and inspire future generations," Portnow added.
Other lifetime achievement award recipients will be electronic music band Kraftwerk, musical group The Isley Brothers, singer-songwriter Kris Kristofferson, and violinist Maud Powell.
