New Delhi, Dec 5: Actress Priyanka Chopra while speaking at the Aaj Tak Conclave by the India Today Group, today, said that she would marry when someone who was worth asking her, proposes to her. Expanding on the worthiness of her prospective partner she said that it would have to be someone who could be her best friend and whom she could respect.
She went on to say that it was important to her that she kept at least 10% of her personal life to herself and that she reserved the right do so despite being a celebrity and an actress. She also claimed this to be the reason why she never openly denied any rumours regarding her love life. She clarified that she did so merely to protect her personal life and not because she wished to be perceived as politically correct.
The 31-year old actress postulated that it was important for actors to be part of commercially successful films so that they could then attract audiences for films that were women-centric or with deeper messages. Presently working on a biopic surrounding the life of five-time world Champion Mary Kom, she said it was sad that there weren't any women-centric films that had made it to the 100 crore club.
She also revealed that although she was never too fond of sports, working on a movie about a successful sportswoman had compelled her to change a lot about the outlook of her life as well as helping her learn a lot in the process. Priyanka revealed that the actors who had recently stepped into the Hindi movie industry such as such as Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor did admit to feeling intimidated by her. She claimed that she exuded the confidence she had imbibed in herself as she entered the industry without any contacts and went on to single-handedly carve a niche for herself.
Upon being questioned about movies that people believed incited crimes against women, the actress said that it was important for audiences to differentiate between fiction and reality. They also needed to be aware laws are formed by the Government and the movies existed to entertain and they could change society all on their own.
